Which Breast Services Are Right for Beverly Hills Patients
By Plastic Surgery Art and Science Institute: Dr. David Sahar, MD | October 24, 2026
A woman recently told me she had her original augmentation here almost 20 years ago, and when it was time for an implant replacement with a lift and a small symmetry reduction, she knew exactly where to go. Breast services include cosmetic options like augmentation, lift, reduction, implant removal, and revision, plus reconstruction after cancer or injury. Choosing the right path comes down to your goals, your anatomy, and your timeline. If you’re comparing options in Beverly Hills, I’ll walk you through what each procedure is designed to do, realistic recovery planning, and when it makes sense to combine surgeries.
Quick note for busy schedules: In the Golden Triangle and Downtown Beverly Hills, many of my patients plan consults and follow-ups around work, travel, and events. We’ll map out downtime before you commit.
The 2 reasons most Beverly Hills patients start researching breast surgery
People usually find me for one of two reasons. They want a change in shape or volume that feels more “them” in clothing and out of it. Or they’re dealing with a physical issue that’s become impossible to ignore, like neck and shoulder discomfort, posture changes, skin irritation, or implant problems.
The common thread is that you want a clear plan. Not a vague promise. We’ll talk through what bothers you (and what doesn’t), how your skin and tissue will respond, and how much recovery time you can realistically protect. That matters a lot for appearance-focused professionals who can’t disappear for weeks at a time.
Breast augmentation, lift, reduction, reconstruction: pick the right starting point
Breast Augmentation
I use silicone gel or saline implants to add volume, improve symmetry, and restore fullness that often changes after pregnancy or weight loss. We’ll also decide together on incision location and whether the implant sits over or under the muscle based on your anatomy and your goals.
Best for: you like your breast position but want more size, upper pole fullness, or better balance in proportions.
Revision of Breast Augmentation
If an older augmentation no longer fits your body or your preferences, I can correct issues like shifting, hardening, rippling, rupture, or asymmetry. Revision might mean replacing implants, releasing or removing capsule scar tissue, repositioning an implant pocket, or removing implants altogether.
Best for: you’ve had implants before and you’re now noticing distortion, discomfort, or you simply want a different look.
Breast Lift (Mastopexy)
A lift reshapes and repositions the breast when you’ve lost perkiness or the nipple sits lower than you want. I match the incision pattern to the amount of sagging, then remove excess skin and reshape the tissue to get a firmer, higher contour.
Best for: you’re happy with your size, but you miss the shape and position you used to have.
Breast Reduction Center of Beverly Hills
Reduction removes extra breast tissue, fat, and skin, then reshapes what remains so your body looks more proportionate. Many patients come in because of bra strap grooves, rashes, exercise limits, and chronic neck, upper back, or shoulder pain.
Best for: you want real relief and a smaller, more manageable size that fits your frame.
Breast Reconstruction
Reconstruction rebuilds breast shape after mastectomy or lumpectomy. Depending on your situation, we may use implants in one or two stages, your own tissue with flap-based approaches, and often fat grafting for contour refinements. Nipple and areola reconstruction may come later to finish the look.
Best for: you’re looking for a steady, step-by-step plan after cancer treatment or injury, with an end result that looks natural in real life.
Breast Revision
Breast revision is a broader category for correcting problems after a prior augmentation, including rupture, displacement, and capsular contracture. Sometimes the fix is implant-focused. Sometimes pairing revision with a lift is what restores overall shape.
Best for: your implants or breast shape changed over time and you want a plan that addresses the root cause, not a quick patch.
Breast Implant Removal
Explant surgery removes implants, and may remove some or all of the surrounding capsule scar tissue depending on what’s going on. Many patients also choose to add a lift at the same time to address looseness or sagging once the implant is out.
Best for: you want to be implant-free, or you’re dealing with pain, rupture concerns, capsular contracture, or a look that no longer feels right.
Breast Implant Capsule Removal
Capsulectomy removes scar tissue around an implant when it becomes a problem. Some cases call for a total capsulectomy. Others need en bloc removal where implant and capsule come out together. Imaging like ultrasound or MRI may be part of your planning before surgery.
Best for: you have firmness, pain, distortion, swelling, or systemic symptoms that you suspect are related to implants.
Breast Implant Capsular Contracture
Capsular contracture happens when scar tissue tightens around an implant. Mild cases may be managed without surgery. More advanced cases often need a surgical plan that can include capsule release or removal, implant replacement, or changing the implant pocket to lower recurrence risk.
Best for: your breast feels hard, looks distorted, or you’re starting to have pain that wasn’t there before.
Removal of Ruptured Breast Implant
Ruptures can happen over time or after trauma. Saline ruptures are usually obvious quickly. Silicone ruptures often need imaging to confirm. Surgery removes the compromised implant, often through prior incision lines, and we can discuss replacing the implant during the same surgery if that fits your goals.
Best for: you’ve been told you have a rupture, or you have new asymmetry, shape changes, or symptoms that warrant evaluation.
Combining procedures: Pairing an implant with a lift can change scar placement and recovery planning. Adding fat grafting can soften transitions and refine shape, but it’s still surgery and it still needs real downtime.
Results people actually talk about: pain relief, natural shape, and confidence
The results that come up again and again are specific. People talk about feeling like a priority, having their questions welcomed, and getting a recommendation with a clear explanation behind it. On the physical side, reduction patients often describe immediate relief in back and neck pain and posture that feels more natural once the weight is gone.
“My back and neck pain was immediately relieved, my posture has improved, and my whole body looks and feels in proportion.”

Reconstruction patients often talk about comfort, support, and results that look and feel natural. I also hear about surprisingly manageable recoveries. More than one person has told us they had little to no pain and didn’t need pain medication, just tightness.
And for revision and implant removal, a big “win” is feeling like your body makes sense again. Symmetry corrections, a lift added at the right time, and fat transfer when it’s appropriate can make the final shape look intentional, not like a repair.
How your consultation goes in our Beverly Hills office (no guesswork)
When you sit down with me, I start by asking what you want to change and what you want to keep. Then we get specific. I’ll examine skin quality, tissue, symmetry, nipple position, and your current implant situation if you have one. If you’re coming in for a breast center type of conversation that includes reconstruction, we’ll talk through staging, timing, and the role of imaging or coordination with your other doctors.
Before you leave, you’ll know the surgical plan I’m recommending, what the scars will likely look like based on technique, and the recovery windows you’ll need to protect. My team is known for being communicative, so if you’re the type who has questions after you’ve slept on it, we’ll make sure you get answers.
Recovery planning: realistic timelines for work, travel, and events
Downtime is personal, and it depends on what we’re doing and how your body heals. Still, there are patterns that help you plan. Many augmentation and lift patients can handle light daily activities fairly quickly, but you’ll want time away from heavy lifting and intense workouts. Reduction and revision can require more breathing room, especially if we’re doing more reshaping.
If you’re traveling in and out of Beverly Hills, timing matters even more. Our office is convenient to Santa Monica Boulevard, Wilshire, and the Golden Triangle, so follow-ups are usually straightforward. But you still need to be in town long enough for early checks, and we’ll tell you what “long enough” means for your plan.
Practical scheduling tip: If you have an event on the calendar, bring the date to the consult. We’ll work backward and discuss what swelling, activity limits, and garment wear usually look like.
Cost, insurance, and financing: what’s different in Beverly Hills
Cosmetic breast surgery pricing varies based on complexity, revision history, and whether procedures are combined. That’s why I don’t like throwing out a single number online. A lift plus implants is different than implants alone. Implant removal with capsulectomy is different than removal without it.
Insurance is a different conversation. Breast reconstruction after cancer is commonly covered. Some breast reductions are also covered when physical symptoms are documented and non-surgical options haven’t solved the problem. If insurance may apply in your case, tell us early so we can help you understand what documentation is typically needed.
Why patients stick with Dr. Sahar and our team for years
People come back because they feel cared for, not rushed. I take time to explain options in plain language, and I don’t push you toward a decision. If you ask what I’d do, I’ll tell you and I’ll explain why.
“My scars are invisible! He answered my questions and took time to explain the answers. He even checked up on me by calling several times after my most recent surgery to follow up.”
